About the film
On graduation day the class finds out that the homestead they booked for the party has been cancelled. Marius saves the day: his mother is an estate agent and can get the keys to another place in the countryside. The party moves there.
None of them knows that twenty years earlier a woodcarver named Algirdas murdered his entire family in that house. As the night goes on, events start to repeat the old tragedy.
This is Jonas Trukanas’s feature debut, written with Titas Laucius during lockdown. Festivals presented it as Lithuania’s first indie slasher: local folklore, classic horror tradition and dark comedy under one roof.

Why this hour
After the Korean opener the night comes home. Rūpintojėlis is fear you understand without subtitles: a Lithuanian homestead, a Lithuanian graduation party and a Lithuanian cast. It is short and fast, which suits the hour when the room still has energy but already knows there will be no safe places tonight, not even the familiar ones.
