About the film
Bryan is a medical courier. A routine delivery takes him to a remote hospital, and that same night a viral outbreak engulfs Raccoon City. The city collapses into violence, and Bryan has to fight his way through hordes of mutated creatures to survive.
This is not a sequel to earlier adaptations. Zach Cregger, the director of Barbarian and Weapons, wrote a new story with Shay Hatten, set in the world of the Capcom games alongside the events of the second game and without the series’ familiar heroes.
The lead is Austin Abrams, who also starred in Cregger’s Weapons. The film opened in cinemas on 18 September 2026.

Why this hour
Two in the morning is the hour for a film that itself lasts one night. The hero of Resident Evil is an ordinary courier with a package, and a whole city is collapsing around him. The room feels much the same by then: half the night gone, no way back, the ritual still ahead. This film refuses to slow down exactly when you most want to.
